Timeline

1616, Xu Xiake came to Huangshan After visiting Baiyue Mountain (present-day Qiyun Mountain). When Xu Xiake landed on Huangshan Mountain, he once praised the beauty of Huangshan Mountain: "The famous mountains at home and abroad are nothing like the Huangshan Mountains of Hui. Later, it was extended by the locals as "the return of the Five Mountains does not look at the mountain, and the return of the Yellow Mountain does not look at the Mountain". After that, Xu Xiake came to Fujian Province and began a trip to Wuyi Mountain.

I1617, this year Xu Xiake mainly carried out short-term tours, such as Shanjuan Cave and Zhanggong Cave. In that year, his original wife died.

1618, in August and September, Xu Xiake, together with relatives and friends, traveled up the Yangtze River and visited Lushan Mountain. Thereafter, in September of that year, he visited Huangshan again – the route was much the same as the first.

I1620, Xu Xiake set off in May of that year to continue short-term tours in neighboring provinces. Tourist attractions include Jianglang Mountain in Zhejiang Province, Jiu Li Lake and Shizhu Mountain in Fujian Province.

After that, Xu Xiake continued to travel west and came to Xiyue Huashan. Unlike Han Yu, who was scared and crying after climbing Mount Hua, Xu Xia traveled all over the five peaks of Mount Hua. After that, Xu Xiake visited Mount Emei and Mount Wudang. In Mount Emei, due to the rebellion of local people, "Emei tourism is not smooth".

1624, since his mother was already eighty years old, Xu Xiake planned to stop traveling and serve his mother. However, the mother made a surprising move to show her support for him——— travel with her son. Of course, these attractions are basically limited to Xu Xiake's hometown of Jiangsu Province. The following year, Xu Xiake's mother died, and the grieving Xu Xiake temporarily stopped his travel.

1628, after the expiration of the three-year period of filial piety, Xu Xiake embarked on a journey again. He toured Jindou Mountain and Yuhua Cave in Fujian, and then came to Luofu Mountain in Guangdong.

1633, in the summer of this year, Xu Xiake once again went north to Beijing and visited the Wutai Mountain Scenic Area in Shanxi, visiting the four southeast, northwest, and northwest areas. In August, he left Mount Wutai for Hengshan and visited the Hanging Temple and temple complex.

1636, Xu Xiake, who was fifty years old, felt that old age was coming and began the tragic "Journey of Ten Thousand Miles". Beginning in October, he traveled through Jiangxi and Hunan, visiting Xitang, Guifeng, Longhu Mountain, Huixian Peak, Wugong Mountain and other scenic spots along the way, and then continued the journey. After Xu Xiake traveled to Lijiang, Yunnan, he was unable to walk due to a foot disease, but still insisted on writing the "Travelogue" and "Mountain Chronicle", and basically completed the "Travels of Xu Xiake" of more than 2.6 million words (more than 2 million words were lost, only more than 600,000 words were left). He was also entrusted by local people to compile the "Chronicle of Jizu Mountain".

1637, leaving Hunan, Xu Xiake entered Guangxi again. After inspecting the Lingqu Canal, he visited Guilin and Yangshuo, which are still popular attractions. In Guilin, the scenic spots he visited included Elephant Trunk Mountain, Diecai Mountain, Seven Star Rock, Fubo Mountain, Yao Mountain and so on. After that, Xu Xiake crossed the Li River and came to the vicinity of Yangshuo. At that time, Xu Xiake very much wanted to climb Duxiu Peak, but this was a forbidden area of Wangcheng, and Xu Xiake pleaded bitterly and failed to do so. After the trip to Yangshuo in Guilin, Xu Xiake visited scenic spots such as Duya Mountain and Gou Loophole.

1638, Xu Xiake began his journey to Yungui and visited the Baishuihe Waterfall, which is now the Huangguoshu Waterfall.
